Big
George Ventures, LLC (affectionately known as "
BGV") is planning to develop
high-quality housing in Carson Valley. We have purchased a 100-acre
plot in Douglas County, Nevada that's just south
of Carson City
and approximately 0.5 miles east of Route 395-- specifically, our plot
is bounded on the north by Topsy Ln and on the east by Center Dr, and
we intend to build
high-quality, eco-friendly, and cost-effective housing units on this
excellent land.
Big George Ventures realizes
that no company exists in a vacuum, and
that its future is linked to that of the surrounding community and the
people who live and work and play in it. Big George Ventures has high
hopes that it will be able to be a very
positive force in the Carson Valley/Douglas County area. At the
time of this writing, all Big George
Ventures principals and employees
live in Douglas County.
Our development is currently very much in the planning stages: we are
working on getting a land plan for our development,
Georgetown Village, approved by
Douglas County, and we are simultaneously working on the designs of the
houses that we are going to offer.

Big Things for BGV
- BGV provided the bulk of the funding for the spectacular new
football and track complex at Douglas
High School. We are extremely proud to announce that the Douglas
County Board of Education decided to name the facility the "Big George Athletic Complex" in
honor of us.
- BGV also provided significant funding to various other
Douglas County schools. In these times of tight budgets, schools
deserve all the financial assistance they can get so that they can do
the best possible job educating our children.
- BGV has pledged $1,000,000 in funding over the next three years
or so to BlueGo to provide
operating costs for a shuttle between Carson Valley and the South Lake
Tahoe/Stateline area. We have high hopes that this shuttle will save
hard-working locals significant money and time, as well as providing
important environmental benefits.
- BGV gave South Lake Tahoe $250,000 towards its track and soccer
field at the South
Tahoe Middle School.
- BGV has provided funding to important public service
groups in Douglas County, such as the Sheriff's Department, the Tahoe
Douglas Fire Protection District, and the library.
- BGV helped fund Running
School-- a non-profit organization aiming at curbing today's trends
in obesity and poor health by teaching kids how they can live healthy,
happy, fit lives. BGV principal Ray Sidney is the Vice President of
Running School.
- BGV provided some big money to the X
Prize Foundation to help fund their Automotive X
Prize. This is a multi-million dollar prize designed to encourage
industry to produce cars that are much more fuel-efficient and much
less polluting than the cars you encounter on the road these days.
- In 2007, BGV sponsored the
Carson Valley Community Food Closet's Wacky Waddlers Wiver Wace for the
second year in a row by paying for the rubber ducks they sell to raise
money. We also provided them with funding to buy a new truck that they
critically needed.
- BGV sponsored Caltech's entry in
the 2007 DARPA
Grand Challenge to create autonomous ground vehicles that can
navigate in the real world without any help from human operators.
- BGV provided funding to the South Lake Tahoe Ice
Arena and the Tahoe
Figure Skating Club, and is a "Diamond
Puck Sponsor" of the South Tahoe
Amateur Hockey Association. Get out there and play some hockey!
- BGV was the title sponsor of the 2007 Worlds
Toughest Half, a wonderful half-Ironman-length triathlon in Auburn,
CA. We also were its presenting sponsor in 2006, when it was called the
Auburn International Triathlon.
